GARMS theme for 2025

The GARMS theme for 2025 reflects a timely and critical area of focus within obstetric sonography: Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS)

With the increasing global incidence of PAS and its associated maternal health risks, the role of the sonographer in early detection and accurate diagnosis has never been more essential.

This year’s theme—“Placenta Accreta Spectrum: Improving Our Knowledge Scope as Sonographers” —underscores the need for enhanced awareness, deeper understanding, and refined imaging skills to better identify  this condition.

By equipping sonographers with up-to-date knowledge and practical competencies, we can play a vital role in multidisciplinary care teams, supporting early interventions that may significantly reduce morbidity and mortality.

The goal is not only to elevate the practice of sonography in Ghana, but also to align it with international standards of maternal-fetal care.
